From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

he Zamfara state Chamber of Commerce has expressed fear over move by opposition members of the state House of Assembly against 3 billion naira loan to be secured by the state government for trade promotion in the state.

In a statement, issued by the President, Zamfara Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ZACCIMA), Bello Musa Mobil, stated with dismay that, the movement by the opposition members of the state House Assembly to stop efforts by the state government to secure

access to CBN facility is unfounded. It further informed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has laid down rules and regulations for all stakeholders to meet to virtually qualified for having access to the facility being offered by the CBN, aimed at promoting trades in a fight against unemployment and poverty. “I want to use this medium to enlighten the general public and the opposition members that the loan is meant for the general public in order to address unemployment and also reduce the level of poverty through the capitalization of small and medium scale enterprises in the state”, the statement stressed. The statement conveyed that some governments from the North-West

comprising Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina and Kaduna had since accessed to the CBN facility; therefore, it is time for Zamfara state to join its counterparts to benefit from the gesture so as to curb the obstacles derailing the economy of the nursing state.

It would be recalled that eight opposition members of the state House of Assembly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had last week moved against the loan, the situation that led to the break of the House Mace following unruly physical combat among the entire members during sitting.
