Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara State has said the sum of 2.631 billion naira will be spent for the construction of the three piloting RUGA projects across the three senatorial zones of the state as he celebrates first 100 days in office.
Matawalle, who disclosed this yesterday during the laying foundation ceremony of the Ruga construction in Ranji Salkida under Maradun local government area said, the project which was aimed at transforming Fulani communities will extend to all the 14 local government areas of the state.
The Governor informed that, the state government has secured three hundred hectares for the project which will contain over six hundred of one and two bedroom flats, earth dams, western and Islamic schools, thirty beds capacity hospitals and veterinary clinics. .
“The project when completed, our esteemed Fulani communities will stop long distance traveling looking for the survival of their cows as enough hectares were provided meant for growing hay even in commercial quantity that can feed almost one million cows”, Matawalle said.
He further said, his administration would embark on medical outreach for both Fulani herdsmen and their cows across the 14 local government areas of the state with a view to bring them close to the society in effort to ensure peace and mutual coexistence was sustained in the state.
Laying the foundation, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State called on the Fulani communities in the state to make judicial use of the project, adding that, “With the construction of Ruga for Fulani herdsmen in Zamfara State, I have no amount of doubt that, peace will be sustained, and by extension, criminal activities will drastically reduce in our neighboring dear Sokoto State.”
