Zamfara State Government has approved 1st November 2020 to reopen all schools in the state as directed by the federal government being it’s plan for all states to set up modalities for school reopening after a longtime lock down as a result of corona virus pandemic.
This was contained in statement by the Zamfara State Executive Chairman Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Maradun, saying the board has approved Double Shift Model as an alternative learning model for safe distancing to ensure compliance with the NCDC guidelines.
The statement further stressed that, the plan will affect only schools with large enrolment of pupils, adding that, “The classes should be divided into morning and afternoon shifts and periods length will be reduced only 30 minutes”.
It also directed that, use of Covid-19 preventing materials by both the teachers and the students during schools sessions should be compulsory as guided by the NCDC with a view to ensure total safety of health.
“In the course of running the affairs of schools in the state, visits by either parents and or guardians of the students should be monitored and controlled by the heads of schools to ensure total respect for the Covid-19 protocols before allowed into the schools premises”, the statement has warned.
