The Zamfara state Police Command has arrested 5 suspected armed robbers who recently used dried hen’s leg disguised as revolving pistol and robbed a lecturer at the Federal University Gusau of his car alongside 11 million naira worth of jewellery belonging to his wife at his Damba area residence in Gusau metropolis.
Parading the suspects at the Police Command yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Shehu Muhammad said, the suspects were charged on criminal conspiracy and armed robbery and will be prosecuted as soon as investigations carried by the Department of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) is completed.
The PPRO further informed that the Police after swung into action, have used a phone tracker to obtain a report on SIM Card number 08171861144 of one Samsung handset among the stolen items located in Sokoto state through which all the 4 remaining suspects were arrested.
According to him, the suspects had initially driven the stolen car to Kano state before they finally redirected it to Tawa state in Niger republic for sale where the illegal transaction was interrupted by the Police and they got arrested.
In an interview, the second who is the principal suspect identified as Awaisu Kasimu confessed that, he mobilised his gang to the scene shortly after saying good night to the targeted victim who also stand as his employer at his Farm House in Gusau area, where they ambushed and attacked him with axe and a dried hen’s leg.
“I have been very close to my victim, he trusted me, the development which gave me opportunity to study the strength of his wealth and to monitor a windless hour within which we can rob him, we robbed him and his wife of the car and jewelries,” Awaisu admitted.
Exhibits recovered as paraded by the Police Command were Honda Anaconda 2016 model, 41 gram of gold one Samsung handset, one Techno handset, one Samsung J110 handset and Gionee handset.
