The Zamfara Police Command has alerted on sponsored campaigns to project a very bad image of the state by unpatriotic citizens.
A statement by the Spokesperson of Command, SP Shehu Muhammad said, “the Police wished to notify the good people of the State on the intelligence report about the activities of some heartless and bloodthirsty individuals who drive pleasure only when innocent lives are killed or maimed.
“These unpatriotic elements, are not Comfortable with the relative peace achieved in the state, because that has conflicted with their selfish interest and personal aggrandisement.
“The recent one was the attempt to sponsor a spontaneous demonstration in all the 14 local government areas of the State after distributing some fabulous amount of money for that purpose except in Shinkafi, but such attempt has woefully failed in other 13 local government areas.
“In light of this, the Command wishes to reiterate that, no amount of blackmail will deter the Police and other security agencies from carrying out their Constitutional duties of protecting the people and saving the State against the security challenges it found itself for a decade.”
The PPRO further said, investigation is currently ongoing with a view to exposing such criminal elements and will soon be dealt with according to the law of the land.
According to the statement however, the Command is not unmindful of some security challenges and skirmishes here and there, but members of the public are living witnesses on the security progress achieved so far, and efforts are being intensified to continue with more vigour and enthusiasm to ensure peace and security of the State.
The Command called on the peace loving people of the state to be wary of these people and continue to pray for the wellbeing of the state. And also cooperate with the security agencies’ efforts to rid the state of all form of criminal elements.
It would be recalled, hundreds of people took to streets in Shinkafi local government area on Sunday and were at the top of their voices chanting ‘we are tired of being killed by merciless bandits, we should be allowed to carry weapons for selves defence’.
