From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
Chairman, Zamfara state chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, has called on the state Commissioner of Police to rise against high rate of thuggery, which is a threat to democracy in the state.
He gave the charge yesterday, during formal declaration of a House of Representatives member representing Gusau and Tsafe, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, aspiring for gubernatorial seat under the umbrella of the PDP come 2015, saying they would not fold their arms on the issues of political malpractice in the state.
He lamented that information reached the leadership of the party that, some opposition parties had destroyed billboards of PDP in Kaura Namoda local government area.
Senator Nasiha said, his party has no any plan to encourage political thuggery following agreement reached by the elders committee that the party should only
embark upon activities that would assist in changing negative attitudes of the youth.
In his manifesto, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Gusau said that, his aim is to secure thousands of jobs for unemployed youth from the fourteen local government areas of the state.
He said time has come to eventually build new Zamfara state by ensuring adequate security and youth empowerment as already started through farming and skills acquisition programmes through which over 10,000 youth were engaged.
