Zamfara NLC backs indefinite strike

The Zamfara state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Bashir Talata Mafara has registered unreserved support on the decision taken by the mother Congress rejecting 22,500 naira being minimum wage as agreed by the Governors forum.
Comrade Mafara spoke the stand of the state Congress on the new agreed 22,500 naira minimum wage to Journalists yesterday while on inspection visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state secretariat Zamfara state Council which currently undergoes renovation.
He emphasized that, “We are working for our earnings, therefore, we should not be treated like slaves, our mother congress sees no reason for refusal to pay minimum of 30,000 naira as wages, our members pay rents, school fees for children, feeding and pay bills comprised of hospitals, energy and others”.
The NPC Chairman further called on entire members across all sectors in the state to ensure that they are well stocked before the 6th of November as there is no going back on the indefinite strike threatened by the NLC national headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Chairman has commended the NUJ Acting Chairman for his commitment towards renovating the NUJ Secretariat which had entirely changed the mode of the media practitioners to more professional in the state.
Reacting, the state Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Abdurrazaq Bello Kaura maintained that, his administration has embarked on uplifting the NUJ Secretariat to the level of competing with others across the country with a view to boost morale of the entire members and the professionalism in the state.
