The Emir of Birnin Magaji of Zamfara state, Dan Ali Ahmed Usman, has urged the state government to consider politicians from his emirate for appointment into government positions in the state.

Dan Ali made the appeal in his palace yesterday to Governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, who paid him a Sallah festival visit. The visit was organised by the state government with the aim to create avenue upon which burning issues pertaining to security and projects assessment would be tabled.

He stressed that the appeal would have been enveloped, but the emirate insisted on making it public as it was learnt that the governor always prefer receiving challenge the way it was done due to his firmness and open door policy in running the affairs of his administration.

“We have not witnessed a single appointment from the state governor to anybody from Birnin Magaji local government; but we consider it as still a blessing to the emirate as we are sure that does not mean it was deliberate”, the emir stated.

The Emir however commended the governor for awarding the contract for the construction of Kaura-Namoda-Birnin-Magaji-Dauran 67 Kilometre road as well as the reconstruction of township roads in Birnin Magaji, Modomawa and Nasarawar Godal, praying further that more developmental projects should be extended to the area.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Zamfara Anka and state Chairman Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, has on behalf of the people of the Emirate appealed to Zamfara State Government to come to their aid by providing portable drinking water and constant electricity to boost their economic and social living.

The emir further contended that Anka is the only headquarters of the historic Kingdoms of one of the Hausa states since pre-colonial days that has yet to be provided with portable drinking water, and connected to the national grid.
