A member House of Representatives representing Shinkafi/Zurmi of Zamfara state, Honorable Abubakar Hussaini Moriki, has distributed 100 million naira worth of items to empower over 400 youths in his constituency.
The distributed items were 100 motorcycles, 100 wheelbarrows, 30 grinding machines, 2 new Honda vehicles and 15 tricycle machines meant to support people in improving their economic class.
He said: “Others among the gesture were the construction of antinatal care and maternity ward at Dauran town under Zurmi local government area, and the procurement of 20 million naira meant for the settlement of scholarship for 1,980 students undergoing studies across tertiary institutions in the country.”
Speaking while launching the distribution exercise at Zurmi local government secretariat, Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, said the youth empowering programme initiated by the lawmaker was worth of commend and emulation.
He said: “The programme would no doubt help to fight poverty among the populace of the Constituency, and it serve as compliment to the state and federal governments efforts towards reducing the threatening rate of unemployment.”
The governor further called on beneficiaries derived across the constituency to judiciously use the gesture as it would help them out of poverty, hunger and unemployment, stressing that, if used and maintained as expected, they would be up lifted to the position of employers to others one day.
Zamfara state Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Lawal Abubakar Kaura, had also constructed and donated a 46 block modern plaza in his home town Kaura-Namoda local government area being endowment to the state Zakat board.
