The Zamfara state Police Command has succeeded in the arrest of three principal suspects identified as Halilu Garba a.k.a Mabushi, Zubairu Marafa and Nafi’u Badamasi in connection with the recent merciless killing of innocent people in Birane village under Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.
In a press conference yesterday at the Zamfara Police Command Gusau, the Police Commissioner, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson said, the Command has quickly responded to the incident by deploying personnel of Mobile Police and Special Forces under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Operations.
“The two joint forces have immediately swung into action to the affected areas and restored law and order, after which they raided all the identified hideouts to have successfully arrested notorious and principal suspects, they are now helping with useful information that would lead to more arrest,” CP Ebrimson said.
In the same vein, the team was able to arrest a dangerous 4-man kidnapping syndicate at DanKon Daji Village who usually issue a letter to a particular village directing for the payment of ransom otherwise would become next target for kidnapping.
“When the Police got the information, they asked the complainant to arrange some money for the kidnappers with a view to fall into trap,
the complainant procured 39,500 naira for that purpose, and our men were lucky to have had apprehended them immediately,” the Commissioner added.
The commissioner further informed that, a committee to investigate the recent killings have been set up by the Inspector General of Police,
IGP Ibrahim Idris, who will come to consolidate the efforts already commenced by the Command with a view to bringing all forms of criminal activities in the state to an end.
He also called on people across the state to as a matter of making Zamfara peaceful again, to continue giving maximum support as usual to the visiting committee by reporting all questionable characters and or strange movements to the Police and other sister security agencies in the state.
