Emir of Kaura Namoda, Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the creation of 774,000 Special Public Works (SPW) under which 14,000 youths were engaged across the 14 local government areas of the state.
Alhaji Sanusi, who made the disclosure during flag off ceremony for the commencement of the SPW jobs held at his palace in Kaura Namoda, warned the teeming beneficiaries to ensure punctuality throughout the three months scheduled for their services.
“I urge you to respect the opportunity given by this gesture by being honest and be rules abiding workers so that, the aims behind creating SPW by the Federal Government amongst which were to reduce level of poverty and the need for unemployed youths to become self reliant could be achieved.
“Your job was to keep your local government areas clean, and this comes exactly when the general society needs it, especially there has been warning for sanitizing environments in fights against infectious diseases amongst which corona virus was among”, the emir has stressed.
Earlier, the Zamfara State Chairman Committee on Special Public Works, Engineer Ahmad Garba, said a sub committee on monitoring of SPW workers has already set up, it’s duty was to ensure that all the workers are punctual and dedicate with a view to justify their earnings.
Engineer Garba further informed that, the programme was designed for artisans to do public works for three months with the earning of N20,000 per month, adding that, “This is not a matter education qualification but, it was designed to help fight against poverty among the citizens”.
