Zamfara INEC set to distribute PVC, CVR
From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
The Zamfara state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said all arrangements for the distribution of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) have been concluded to meet the scheduled date.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Jibril Ibrahim Zarewa, who made the development known at the opening ceremony of sensitisation programme of stakeholders for the distribution of PVC and CVR, said the Commission had already deployed electoral officers to the targeted locations.
Zarewa further informed that the exercise has become necessary as there is need to capture more eligible voters who have just turned eighteen especially after the conduct of the 2011 general elections.
He said, as for the case of change of voting location, a voter should write an application and submit along his Temporary Voting Card (TVC) indicating relocation to a new place by the voter for necessary action that would allow him to virtually participate in the forthcoming elections.
The Commissioner informed that the PVC will last for fifteen years, the time that the National Identity Card Commission (NICC) will have rounded up its commitments towards issuance of national ID cards aimed to be used for elections henceforth.
He stressed that even those that were up to the age of election and were prevented to participate by legitimate circumstance, should present their cases to INEC officers with supportive documents indicating the claim of their ages for necessary attention.
