The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara state has assured that all necessary arrangements have been concluded for Bakura by-election into the state House of Assembly.
This was disclosed by the Residence Commissioner, Asmau Sani Maikudi during stakeholders meeting at the state headquarters of the commission in Gusau, the state capital.
“Today’s meeting has become necessary as a result of the death of a state lawmaker from Bakura Hon. Tukur Jekada who died on the 29th, 2020”.
According to the INEC Resident Commissioner, the commission has started the distribution of non-sensitive materials so early to avoid non-availability of materials on the 31st October when the election would be conducted.
Maikudi explained that Smart Card Readers will be used for accreditation of voters which he said will be from to 2pm on the election day.
“The commission has also made adequate security arrangements to ensure a hitch-free election and many security operatives would be drafted to Bakura.”
