The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed satisfaction with the turnout in the on-going Continues Voters Registration (CVR) and the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) across Kebbi, Zamfara and Sokoto states.
This was pronounced by the Federal Commissioner in charge of the zone, Hajiya Amina Zakari during INEC facility tours in Gusau the state capital, saying, “As a result of the massive enlightenment campaign embarked by the commission and the state governments, many people were moving to the registration centers for registration.
“It is in order to ease rigors faced by some of our rural dwellers that the commission supplied more data capture machines to the states which had been made mobile, so that INEC staff can meet the eligible voters at more suitable places.
“It was impressive when I visited some centers to saw rural women in numbers riding on motorcycles to the registration centers with various issues ranging from non-registration to loss or damage of voter card among others, which were immediately addressed by our field officers “, Hajiya Zakari has noted.
Commenting on the collection of the PVCs, the federal commissioner further said, there were still some cards under INEC custody that were yet to be collected, the mobile CVR team moved along with such cards to give to the rightful owners.
The Commissioner informed that though, some of the rightful claimants of uncollected cards may have died or transferred to another places far from where they have registered, and advised that those who moved should contact the units where they were registered.
“I am using this to ginger our staff to be more dedicated and shun all forms of election crimes, see if the offices have enough space to store all our election materials and address areas of need,” Hajiya Zakari maintained.
