From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
Zamfara State Igbo community of the APC has declared total support for the ex-Governor Abdulaziz Yari to become the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with newsmen in Gusau the state capital, the state Chairman of the Igbo wing of the APC, Chief Collins Ofodile, said Igbo politicians under APC had unanimously arrived at the decision to support the former Governor’s candidature.
He claimed that, the former Governor of Zamfara State and the Chairman NGF has qualities of leadership that many did not acquired in whatever form one of which was a popular ethno-religious tolerance.
“When he was both the Governor and Chairman NGF, we noticed that, he was not a kind of leader whose aims were only to provide protections for the development of his people alone.
“He was a kind of principled politician our country was looking for in other to make Nigeria more great by bringing all and sundry together in facing common goals with a view to achieve peaceful living.
“We saw it all and we were hopeful in his style of approaching insecurity issues when he was a Governor, should the banditry of those days in Zamfara violently shared the same size and speed with that of today, the damage would have been more than recorded.
“He was redirected by the bunch of his qualitative styles of leadership to have become the first NGF Chairman from the north-west, this is in addition to other silent qualities that earned him more societal consideration especially in the field of promoting education and health”, Chief Collins has contended.
According to Chief Collins, if former Governor Yari will be given chance to become the party’s national Chairman, all kind of nasty games in Nigerian politics will end, and he will prove the popular sayings of ‘Politics is a dirty game’ wrong.
