Zamfara governor harps on efficacy of fumigants in curbing coronavirus

Zamfara State, Governor Bello Mohammed has said fumigants are expected to kill over 90% of the coronavirus in the air and other habitats.
He stated this when he flagged off the fumigation of entire habitat areas in state Wednesday.
The Governor launched the exercise on 28 April, 2020 following the successful tracing of all contacts made by the two index cases of Covid-19 in the state

He disclosed that the second round of the fumigation is being led by the Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Nurudeen Isah.
Governor Mohammed added that, his administration is taking proactive measures to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus and appeals to the people to cooperate with the Government, in its efforts to address the spread of the virus.
He assured that his government will not relent in taking measures that will protect the lives and the properties of the residents.
The Governor , explained that the use of chemical disinfectants for the fumigation will assist in curtailing the spread of the virus and improve the hygiene of the state.
He also solicited for the citizens continued support in the fight against the spread of the disease, as Government is feeling the pains of the hard time, under low economic conditions.
He promised that government palliatives will reach all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Governor also urged Muslims to intensify prayers in this Holy Month of Ramadan for Allah’s intervention, to end the coronavirus pandemic in the state, the country and the world at large.
Areas to be fumigated include motor parks, markets and places of worship, as well as other places for social gathering.
The Governor equally received the a consignment containing hundreds of hospital beds and other health care items in Gusau.
