Following the approval granted by the Ahmadu Bello University Governing Council (BUGC), the Federal College of Education Technical operating in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, would delve into degree programmes with 550 pilot students.
College Provost, Dr Baraka Abubakar, yesterday disclosed this to news men in her office, pointing out that, the degree programmes were planned to commence this year, assuring that all facilities and structures needed would be put in place.
Dr. Baraka Informed that the departments involved were that of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, English Language, Hausa Language, Arabic and Social Studies Departments respectively. She maintained that the college has certified to manage and run the programmes.
She explained that, an affiliated Ahmadu Bello University would occasionally be giving an academic support to the College.
In a related development, the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has approved the renewal of the tenure-ship of the Provost, Dr. Baraka Abubakar for another four years.
While commending the federal government for the tenure renewal, she described the journey from 2009 to date as not only challenging, but a struggle of full successes.
