The Zamfara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lawali Abubakar Kaura yesterday, stated that the administration of Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has vowed to ensure poverty is reduced to the barest level across the 14 local government areas of the state by the end of the year 2015.
The APC chairman made the pronouncement during a phone-in programme titled “Zakara” which was organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara chapter aimed at hosting politicians to defend their party’s manifestos towards the development of the state ahead of the 2015 general elections.
He said that the APC-led government has embarked upon roads constructions across the 14 local government areas of the state in its efforts to facilitate easy transportation of farm produce to the targeted remote markets within and even outside the country, adding that, “Road network is highly needed as it is the pivot of every meaningful development in a society”.
Kaura stressed that henceforth, funds would be strictly managed with the administration to embark only on projects needed by the teeming populace of the state, adding that that was how the expected development would eventually be achieved in any society.
The chairman further contended that the APC-led administration has mapped out strategies to contain the teeming unemployed youth across the state through making adequate provision for the introduction of empowerment programmes upon which the high rate of poverty and crime would be reduced in the state.
In his remarks however, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Sani Gwamna Mayanci, urged the entire people of the state, especially members of the opposition parties, to commend the Governor Yari led-administration for introducing sanity in the politics of the state, unlike previous years when members of the opposition parties were molested by the government in power.
