Zamfara state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations that the party has already selected the names of the candidates aspiring for various political positions in the state.
Speaking with journalists yesterday at the state headquarters of APC when the State Secretary to the Government (SSG), Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, purchased aspiration form to contest for Senate to represent Zamfara North, the party Publicity Secretary, Sani Gwamna Mayanci, said there has never been any dictation from the incumbent Governor, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, indicating interest on any aspirant.
Mayanci stressed the party’s concrete agreement to uphold internal democracy, through the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to the interested members across the nation.
He said Zamfara chapter too would not be exceptional, as it has declared 100% hitch-free primary elections for aspirants if reconciliation fails.
According to him, “It is undemocratic to allow selfish interest develop by incumbency or any other power carrier meant for the selection of any aspirant to appear as the party flag-bearer contesting any political office in the state.
“This has been a strong reason that many of the opposition have failed, and it is indeed this that APC has come to practice the democracy for the betterment of the state and the nation at large”, Mayanci stated.
He said the APC is hopeful to win the forthcoming general elections in the state considering the level of development in the state so far under the administration of Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar since 2011 to date.
