The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 700-member committee to run its campaigns for incumbent Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar’s bid for a second term in office, including all other politically related activities as the general elections draw nearer.

The committee, which is to be led by former Minister of Information, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis as Director-General, has 50-member sub-committees to serve under each of the 14 local government areas of the state.

During the formal inauguration of the Kauran Namoda local government committee, Aliyu Bilbis stated that each local committee consists of members nominated from within the local area to ensure adequate mobilization and that it is effectively run by the members of the communities.

He stated that “Considering the tendency of the general social climate of voters, the APC is fully confident of polls victory at all levels”, further informing that political watchers from the presidency have revealed that the incumbent President Jonathan has already started packing out his luggage ahead of the coming general elections.

While inaugurating the local committees in Anka local government, the campaign committee boss pledged a trophy and the prize of the sum of N3 m to any local government that returns higher number of votes that facilitated the success of Governor Yari’s re-election.

Also speaking yesterday at Bakura local government area, shortly before inauguration of the local committee, a director in the committee and party icon, Ibrahim Na Bature Nahuce pledged the additional sum of one million naira to the prize earlier promised by the former minister.

Nabature further announced that the committee has succeeded in receiving a defector, an icon in the opposition PDP and a former Commissioner of information, Ibrahim Dan Malikin Gidangoga who recently joined the APC.
