Salisu Yusuf has been rewarded for overseeing Nigeria’s encouraging showing at the African Nations Championship after being appointed coach of the Super Eagles’ Olympic team during an NFF reshuffle.
The only teams not included in the coaching reveal are the senior side, where Gernot Rohr has his team in place ahead of the 2018 World Cup, as well as the U-20 Women’s Team (the Falconets) and the U-17 Women’s Team (the Flamingoes).
Yusuf, who guided Nigeria’s home-based side to the final of the recently concluded CHAN, has been given double duty, with the experienced coach retaining his job as chief of the B team while also taking on responsibility for overseeing the Olympic squad.
Nigeria won bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, having previously won silver in China in 2008 and gold, memorably, in the United States in 1996.
Qualification will be decided during the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Egypt, at the end of next year.
Yusuf will be joined by Imama Amapakabo, Kennedy Boboye, and Fidelis Ilechukwu, with Alloy Agu responsible for goalkeeper training.
Elsewhere, Paul Aigbogun has been appointed head coach of the U-20 side, the Flying Eagles, while Manu Garba has been named manager of the U-17 team.
Alala Danladi Nasidi and Jolomi Atune Ali take charge of the U-15 and U-13 teams respectively.
