Benue State Government has vowed to go tough on criminals and criminal activities during the Yuletide and New Year festivities.
Governor Ortom who made the vow while addressing newsmen after the State Security Council Meeting held at the Government House, Makurdi, particularly frowned at the increased wave of assassination, cult activities and herdsmen attack which is usually, pronounced during this period, assuring that government will work 24 hours with security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property during the festive period.
He announced the ban on picnic, advising the people to celebrate indoors as a way of observing the COVID-19 protocol.
“There has been recent upsurge in COVID-19 cases in Nigeria and even in Benue State, so there is the need for everyone to be cautious and observe the COVID-19 protocol. We also, urge the people to volunteer information about suspicious movement around their environment”, Ortom advised.
