Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi state has received over 200 migrants from Zamfara state who have migrated to the state with their families, following the herdsmen and farmers crises in the North-West.
The governor made the disclosed at Liman Katagum in Bauchi LGAs He said Bauchi state is one of the peaceful states in the country that hosts millions of people from neighbouring states especially victims of crises.
The government, which he said provided water, light and roads, was committed to providing schools and health institution to the people in no distant future.
He assured security to the people and a sense of belonging regretting the current insecurity challenges in the country which he attributed to youth restiveness, poverty and unemployment in the country. He charged the government and stakeholders to provide jobs to the youths for self reliance.
He also stressed the need for government to support the migrants in putting durable shelter in place now that the rainy season was approaching to protect them from harsh weather and diseases.
“Enroll your children in schools to curb the menace of illiteracy with a view to enjoy the benefit of education” said Yuguda.
Speaking on behalf of the immigrants, Malam Umar Fulani commended Yuguda for hosting them following the crises in Zamfara state.
He assured the governor of peace and unity among the host community and promised that his people would be law abiding.
