Mr Boni HarunaBy Albert Akota

The Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna has charged the newly re-constituted Governing Board of Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, to make the institution a centre of excellence that will provide high quality training and learning experiences to engender youth entrepreneurs for the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Board in his office yesterday, the Minister underscored the imperative for the Board to excel by stating that the ‘Centre is not only an important part of our history, but a pivot of our past, present and future.

Mr. Haruna disclosed that the optimal utilization of the centre is

ultimately part of the vision of the Transformation Agenda which he revealed is about taking and implementing measures today in order to give our people a brighter future; about creating jobs, creating wealth and ensuring a better deal for Nigerians.

The Minister commended the Chairman and members of the Board for accepting to serve on the Board in spite of the fact that the Centre does not offer any special attraction like what obtains in NNPC and National Communication Commission (NCC). He appreciated them for putting the interest of the nation first.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of the Board and former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Adebisi Omoyeni affirmed the readiness of the Board to take on the task of delivering on the mandate of the institution noting that this kind of institution shall forever continue to be relevant in the scheme of things in Nigeria, especially now that Nigeria is in dire need of more good and disciplined leaders in every facet of our national life.
