From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
The Secretary-General of the North-West chapter of the Youth Assembly for Good Governance (YAGG), Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed, has rated Katsina State Governor, Barrister Shehu Shema, as one of the democratic champions to be emulated by some of his counterparts across the zone and the nation at large.
Ahmed, who was in Gusau, Zamfara State capital yesterday for the assessment of developmental projects been executed as dividends of democracy, described the performance of the Katsina State governor as unequalled in the nation given the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) generation base.
The secretary noted that, “If Governors would be working with such commitments towards developing their respective areas of jurisdiction in bringing positive changes, then democracy cannot be at its tutelage because every area in Katsina has really benefited from the dividends of democracy not the kind of benefit that one will say in one way or the other but in many areas of endeavours”.
He further observed that, “One wonderful way this Shema outweighs his counterparts is, so far, and as it has been publicised unchallenged, the administration is coming to an end, he has never borrowed a single kobo from any source, while it is the time that, even federal government goes out to borrow in order to meet up with the challenges of governance”.
