The Founder of Crescent University, Abeokuta, and former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola, has described Gov. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state as “the Awolowo of Northern Nigeria for his massive support to education.”

Prince Ajibola, who was speaking when the governor visited the university in Abeokuta on Sunday to see the 400 students sponsored by the state government to Crescent University, Abeokuta and Bells University of Technology, Otta, both in Ogun state said “Nigeria will not have been where it is today if leaders had made education of citizens a number one priority, just as Kwankwaso is doing today.”

He stated that Kwankwaso is the only governor in Nigeria that has sponsored 400 students 200 each to Crescent University and Bells University of Technology, Otta, in addition to thousands to other institutions across the country and abroad, adding that “the fact that he, as a leader, finds time to visit the students shows his commitment to their success.”

Prince Ajibola then encouraged the governor to continue along this line as it is the only way of ensuring the youth become useful to themselves and their communities and contribute to the development of the country.

Also addressing the students Gov. Kwankwaso enjoined them “not to abuse the opportunity given to them by being confrontational with the government over trivial matters or look down upon fellow citizens of the state, when they eventually graduate and get employed.”

“Government is financing your education with tax payers money so you owe it a duty to serve the people diligently and not to join those who always want to embark upon industrial action at the slightest opportunity”, the governor stated.

Describing education as one of the most critical sectors of the economic development of every progressive society, Gov. Kwankwaso charged the students to remain diligent in their academic pursuit, pointing out that the difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful one is nothing but determination.

He maintained that his adminstration decided to accord top priority to education based on the fact that it is the most potent tool for national unity and progress.
