The Association of Yoruba community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on the FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, to assist their young graduates seeking for jobs in the territory.

The Oba (Chief) of Yoruba in the FCT, Oba Olusegun Salau, who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily during the award ceremony organised by the Yoruba community in Abuja, also urged the minister to deem it necessary to offer slots to Yoruba-Muslim and Christians pilgrimage, to enable them travel to Mecca as well as Jerusalem respectively, to observe prayers.

Salau further appealed to the minster to re-allocate the land allotted to the Yoruba community by the former minister of FCT, Alhaji Abba Gana, in Lugbe to build their secretariat.

He said his leadership would continue to parley with the minister, to move the Yoruba community forward, pointing out that the Association of Yoruba community was the only body recognised by the entire Yoruba people in the FCT.

He therefore advised his people to be loyal to the government as well as their chiefs to achieve greatness in the association.

Salau, however explained that the awards being conferred on some personalities was to solidify the relationship with the various ethnic groups in the FCT.

On his part, the Yoruba Prime Minister (Otunba) of Abuja, Dr. Wasiu Tunwase, urged the recipients to see the award given to them as motivation to do more for the Yoruba community.

He pleaded with the people to always speak with one voice for peace to reign in the association, while urging them to be good ambassadors of the Yorubas anywhere they may found themselves.

Tunwase used the occasion to appeal to the Federal Government to give priority attention to the security of Nigerians, and their property at all times.
