The Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has given the assurance of establishing an Air Force Base in Yobe State International Cargo Airport, which project is ongoing but at high level of completion.
He gave the assurance yesterday when he led a team of high ranking military officers on a courtesy visit to the state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni at the state Government House, Damaturu, pointing out that it is part of the command’s effort, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state, to ensure the protection of the lives and properties of the communities in the state.
He said the command would support the state in ensuring the completion of the airport and would establish a refueling station in the airport so that the command’s helicopters would be operating from the state.
He also assured that in due time and gradually, the air force would also establish a command secondary school in the state to facilitate the training of staff for the command.
Earlier, the state governor requested the command to establish an air force base as well as air force secondary school in the state, assuring that his government would give every needed support to the force to establish the facilities and to have success in it fight against insurgency and other crimes in the state.
