In a determined effort to tackle the menace of fire outbreak during the dry season, Yobe state Governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam has released over N100 million for the procurement of fire fighting equipment.
The State Director, Fire Service Board, Alh. Lawan Gana who disclosed this to newsmen in his office in Damaturu added that the Governor has equally approved the deployment of 130 SURE-P staff to the board to meet its manpower need.
He used the opportunity to call on ministries, boards, parastatals and business outfits to always to ensure that they switch off all electrical appliances before leaving offices, business facilities and the markets.
He also appealed to the management of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to regulate power to avoid damage to electrical equipments and houses and also commended the concern shown by the state government in giving priority towards the provision of firefighting equipments to the board.
