Yobe state Executive Council has approved the sum of N11. 3 billion for the construction of an international cargo airport in Damaturu, the state capital.
The state Commissioner for Education, Alh. Mohammed Lamin stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held yesterday at the council’s chamber, government house, and chaired by the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam.
Other decisions reached during the meeting includes the renovation of model primary school in Bayamari to be converted to command college of the Nigerian army at the cost of N238.8 million in addition to the sum of N440.3 million for the procurement and provision of classrooms, offices, staff quarters, students’ hostels and dining hall furniture for five rehabilitated secondary schools in the state.
He pointed out that the council also deliberated on and approved the sum of N99.9 million for the procurement of two Hiace buses and two 1.8 Toyota Corolla models to meet the reaccreditation requirement of the college of nursing and midwifery and college of health science.
The council also approved the sum of N156 million for the procurement of two Toyota Lexus (Jeep), Japan model fulltime leather seat as staff cars to the executive governor.
