Alhaji Maimala Buni, Yobe Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday assured members of equal treatment and opportunity in the party.
Buni said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu.
“APC will not discriminate among old and new members. If you join the party today, you are as good as the founding members.
“This is a new party with a new beginning and a redefined commitment to the states and country.
“We will ensure that the position of the majority are both respected and adopted in respecting the choice of the people,” he said.
The chairman said although the party enjoyed overwhelming support from key politicians and electorate in the state, the doors of the party were still open for those willing to join.
He said: “We are aware of some politicians willing to join APC but entertain fear of being regarded as late comers.
“The party is assuring them of equal treatment and opportunity as members of APC.”
Buni advised politicians to conduct themselves peacefully during electioneering.
“All political parties must discourage political violence while the youths must resist any act of violence and thuggery,” he said. (NAN)
