The Speaker Jigawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Isah Idris Gwaram escaped death on Tuesday as hoodlums attacked him at his constituency.
Reports from the state indicated that the speaker was in Gwaram his home town on a Christmas holidays, and the situation forced him to relocate to unknown destination.
An eye witness account told Peoples Daily that trouble started when the speaker and his team of aids including security personal entered into the home town heading to his family residence where some youth blocked the road and started shout on him and his convoy.
According to an eye witness account, the law maker tried to ignore the protesting youth and the security attached to him attempted to force their vehicles on the people, but the youth blocked the road, and some people were injured in the clash.
When contacted, the Chairman House committee on information, Honourable Muhammed Abdullahi Bulangu, said “the House is not aware. We are in holidays now; and we all go to our places for the holidays.
“He (the speaker) never informed me. I didn’t hear it from any member. So it is not justice to comment on the issue I’m not in the know.”
Also contacted was the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Abdu Jinjiri who said, “So far, I have not been informed from the area. I checked all my mails, signals and text messages, and there is nothing like this.”
