As part of efforts to rehabilitate, educate, reform and reintegrate inmates in Nigerian Correctional Service, a Non Government Organization (NGO), Ambassador Yahaya Kwande Foundation on Saturday donated books to the Plateau State Command of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
In a brief remark while presenting the books, the board member of the organization, Alh. Waziri Kwande, who doubles as the representative of the family, applauded and appreciated the efforts and the good job done by the corrections officials in encouraging productivity among inmates.
He added that the Foundation’s mission is to empower orphans and vulnerable families, including assisting inmates, and thereafter, presented the books to the NCS’s officials.
While receiving the books on behalf of the Jos NCS and her team, Victoria Datit, who is the Welfare Officer of the NCS, at the Jos Correctional facility, promised that the Service would make judicious use of the books.
“It is a pleasure to have an NGO that comes to our help in time of need. We commend you and we appreciate you”, she added.
Meanwhile, the 215 page books which are in various genres and curricular will help give the inmates hope, educate and motivate them to explore new ventures in life.
