A group, Eye Opener Women and Youths Foundation has called on government at all levels to ensure peaceful coexistence among the citizens.
The President and Founder of the Group, Mrs. Margaret Kwa’ada Julius, made the call during a ‘Walk for Peace’, to mark the World Peace Day held in Kaduna yesterday.
She urged the governments at all levels to work for peace as no meaningful development can be achieved without it.
According to her, everybody should start this peace initiative from his/her neighborhood and the peace will be restored.
The peace Walk was in conjunction with the members of the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and other stakeholders, took off from the Secretariat of the council through to the heart of the Kaduna city, Leventis roundabout to create awareness in their campaign for peace in Kaduna, Nigeria and World at Large.
Speaking to journalists after the Road Walk for Peace Campaign, Mrs. Margaret Kwa’ada Julius said the organization is a non-governmental and non-profitable initiative set up to campaign for peace in the society especially as it seems that the much more valuable ‘peace’ is going out of hand.
“We are peace advocates especially out to bring peace to reign in the society mostly among the youths and reason we introduced what we called “Together We Stand”.
Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Sabon-Gari, Kaduna, Chief Superintendent of Police Uzairu Abdullahi who was represented the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state CP Ali Janga said Police especially is happy with the way people are getting it right now, talking about peace in Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
Earlier, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Adamu Yusuf also commended the group for bringing up this initiative at the time it is most needed in Nigeria.
