World Engineering Day: Kaduna engineers tasked to develop skills

As the world celebrates the first world Engineering Day, the Society of Engineers, kaduna Branch has tasked its members on the need to develop their skills and be updated in their chosen profession.
The Chairman of the Branch Engr. Nasiru Dalhatu Umar stated this during the celebration in Kaduna yesterday.
He said the Engineering profession is significant to the human race and the role of the Engineers cannot be under estimated.
Engr. Dalhatu added that there is no place for stagnation in the profession hence the need for them to be aware of the development around them
He pleaded with Kaduna members to avoid any practices that will drag the name of the Society to the mud.
The Chairman said the 2020 World Engineering Day The theme for this year is “The Role of Engineers as the pioneers of progress.” was very promptly because of the role Engineers play in human development.
He explained that as part of the activities, to Mark the day, the Branch visited Government Girls Secondary School Maimuna Gwarzo in Kaduna South Local Government Area to encourage the Girls to take engineering as a profession.
He stressed that the “Engineers are beginning to recognize their pivotal position in the society. we should be driving the growth in this developing society. This should bring to the mind of the engineers their pivotal role and how they need to step up and carry out initiatives that will launch our country into the technological age.”
It will be recalled that the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, WFEO has designated March 4 as World Engineering day for Sustainable Development Starting from 2020, 4 March. This will be the first celebration of the World Engineering Day; following its adoption by the General Conference of UNESCO.
According to UNESCO, Every 4th March- will also be used to highlight the achievements of engineers and engineering
