The President of the Nigeria Football Supporter Clubs and other sports, Dr. Rafus Ladipo has urged the National Agency for Control of Aids (NACA) to provide not less than sixty two million Condoms to football fans at the World Cup in Brazil.
The world-wide president general who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during the Nigeria’s support for the programme, which aims at zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths, with the theme “ Protect the Goal” by NACA, said two million Condoms are expected daily for the thirty one days of the world fiesta.
The director general of NACA, Professor John Idoko has earlier purposed two million Condoms to football fans in Brazil.
Idoko identified challenges facing Africa in the crusade against HIV/AIDS such as prevention, treatment, testing, driving the HIV response by available evidence and using the new scientific evidence to strengthen the Nigerian HIV response.
“We are facing many challenges in African epically Nigeria because some still kick against HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and testing, we want Nigeria to be HIV free, since we have not be able to achieve that, we are providing two million Condoms to four Africa representatives at the world Cup, we started from Cameroon to Nigeria to Algeria and Ghana before going to Mexico finally Brazil, “he said.
Ladipo noted that African, especially Nigerians must be protected in Brazil during and after the games to ensure that the eight hundred supporter club members that would go to Brazil and other Africans that are willing to cheers the Super Eagles to victory are well protected through sex.
“We want two million Condoms daily because eight hundred Nigeria will be in Brazil to support the Eagles because we are going to the final of the game, we need sixty two million condoms to ensure we have enough during and after the world fiesta, “Ladipo said.
