Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has charged the Super Eagles to go for victory in their opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Iran.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal urged the Eagles to take inspiration from the team that represented Nigeria at the USA ‘94 World Cup.
According to him: “The 1994 team made a huge statement of intent when it defeated Bulgaria 3 0 in its opening encounter before posting commendable performance in their subsequent matches.
The present team has the verve, drive and determination to surpass our achievement of 20 years ago. We can show the world how ready we are by spanking the Iranians,” the sport-loving Speaker said.
While assuring the team of total support of 170 million Nigerians, Tambuwal said he is confident that the African champions will not let Africa down.
