The Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC)/Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) have held a one-Day workshop on gender equality for women.
The initiative, among other things, seeks to erase doubts and other unpleasant memories or setbacks hindering women folk from achieving set goals in life.
General Manager, Supportive Services, (NPDC), Mrs. Ann Olumide made this known at a Ceremony to mark the 2018 International Women’s Day Celebration with the theme “Press for Progress” held on Thursday in Benin-City.
Represented by Rashidat Rotimi, Manager, Seplat Joint Venture/NPDC, Mrs. Olumide, challenged Nigerian women to remain determined and focus to overcome several challenges militating against them.
She emphasized that the Day, was specifically dedicated to Celebrate womanhood, their social, political, cultural and economic achievements.
She also said the significant contributions of women must not be forgotten in history, explaining that a lot need to be done to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor in society.
According to her, “If you are in doubt, then you need to take a look at the recently released World Economic Forum 2017 Global Gender Gap Report which disclosed that gender parity is over 100 years away.
“We cannot be complacent. Now more than ever, there is a strong call to press for progress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and the whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive,”She said.
