Women are said to be very important tools to influence the society and bring a new atmosphere of justice, security and prosperity to Nigeria.
A member of the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna, Niger state, Maryam Lemu made the assertion while speaking at a 3-day Biennial Women Conference organized by the Nasrul Lahi-I Faith (NASFAT) Society in Kaduna yesterday.
According to her, women with good character and quality education have the capacity to influence the society and change the mindsets of their children especially motivating and inspiring them.
Lemu who is the daughter of an erstwhile Grand Qadi of Niger State, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu, explained that bringing up children with good manners and character will translate into having a better Nigeria.
She added that women as mothers of the Nation are also role models to their children.
“Our women need to develop themselves. They are the first role models, which children will grow up to want to emulate.
“Because once a woman has educated and build herself, she is able to use those values to raise her children properly, and this will translate to their children having a sense of direction and meaning in life, unlike what we are facing today, she said
Lemu expressed her dissatisfaction with people who got married just to have children without preparing themselves to raise up the children with good moral values.
“We as parents has the duty of installing right values in our children because we brought them to life. As the children never asked to be born, so we must not shy away from our responsibilities.
“When each mother take responsibility and do the needful by training her children, she is contributing to the society, and this will translate into a better Nigeria,” she explained.
