The National President of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ccomrade Michael Alogba Olukoya has attributed the faction between the NUT and ASSUS to the leadership of the Trade Union in the country.
He stated this while briefing newsmen yesterday at the 7th Quadrennial Conference of Delegate of the NUT held at the Arugungu Local Government area of kebbi state.
He explained that, the Association of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools have been fighting for their autonomy and withdrew from the main union expressing dismay that the ASSUS have been enjoying the support of the Trade Union which gave them power and made them to leave to their expectations.
“We don’t have anything, ASSUS as a separate body in our constitution, they are the people who lost in the past election and decided to form their union separately, “ he added.
He commended the efforts of the Kebbi State Government for supporting the teachers in the state, assured him of their full support and cooperation towards uplifting the standard of education across the 21 local government.
In his remark, the state chairman of the union, Comrade Kakale Dan Ashibi thanked the kebbi state government for providing adequate learning materials to the both primary and secondary schools for the purpose of facilitating learning in the state.
He also explained that the government has also establish new secondary schools which is in line with the UBE act.
