A gold Medalist at the just concluded All African Games, Uche Eke has said his priority is to win a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan to climax his ambition for the game as well as for the country.
The 22 years old displayed brilliantly in front of his lovely parents to overpower the Egyptians and Algeria in the pommel horse in the top spot at the 2019 All African Games in Morocco to win gold medal and a bronze.
Our reporter scooped that the gymnast was also among the best graduates at University of Michigan USA in Computer Science.
The American based gymnast who couldn’t hide his ambition told our correspondent in Morocco that he is focus is getting the ultimate prize at next year’s Olympic Games for the country.
“Winning gold medal at the pommel horse category is an indication that my dream of going to Tokyo next year to become the first African to win a medal in gymnastics at the Olympics remains on course.
“I am fully committed to that dream of getting the ultimate prize at the Olympic.”
The Master degree under graduate noted that he want to set a record of be the first Nigeria to win gold at all Africa games and Olympic.
“I want to become the first Nigeria to win a gold medal in gymnastics in All Africa Games and the Olympics, I have done one at the Africa level waiting for the Tokyo Olympics, “he said.
