A Katsina State gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engineer Nura Khalil has insisted that his desire to govern the state was informed by the need to provide the needed development through job creation and enhancement of the state’s educational system.
Khalil, who is from Funtua zone of the state, had contested the guber race of the state both in 2003 and 2007, pledging to focus more on human capital development so as to alleviate poverty, if elected governor.
He stressed that the incumbent administration has made laudable mark in the area of infrastructural development but “a lot still needs to be done in terms of the development of human capacity so we are going to concentrate more on human capital development.”
Khalil said he was the man to beat as far the race for Katsina State guber was concerned stressing that he had garnered more experiences than all of those seeking the office noting “I believe 2015 will be my time”.
He insisted that the time was ripe for either Funtua or Daura zones of the state to produce the next governor noting that in the spirit of fairness, Katsina central senatorial district which has produced the governors that ruled the state for the past sixteen years should concede the chance to either Funtua or Daura zone.
He said zoning was necessary in ensuring justice and fairness even as he lauded the ruling PDP for according top-most priority to the principle of zoning.
“Zoning has been done in our party to bring fairness and I am very supportive of it. There is nothing wrong in Funtua zone being given particular attention” he stated.
