From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi
Former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo withdrew from the state governorship contest in the best interest of the state, unity and brotherhood as well as to allow free and fair contest in the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries.
The Director General of Hammayo campaign Organization, Alhaji Bala Abdullahi Maiauduga gave the explanation while briefing newsmen in Bauchi , explaining that the withdrawal of Former SSG was to clear suspicions suggesting that Governor Isa Yuguda has an anointed candidate.
Abdullahi alleged that they were not happy with the role of the National Chairman of the PDP, Ahmadu Mu’azu who encouraged the former Secretary of the Federal Government, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed to join the race for the state governorship seat, an allegation that close political associates of Mu’azu always denied.
When asked if Hammayo withdrew to give way for Yayale, Bala said ” it was part of the reasons because there is no way he will contest the election with Yayale, even though he asked for his blessings before he started and later he saw that Yayale will also contest , they decided to withdrew “
He said Hammayo would have been the best candidate that will sustain the legacies of Governor Isa Yuguda because he served closely to the governor in the last seven years.
Abdullahi used the briefing to congratulate Governor Isa Yuguda and Mohammed Awwal Jatau for winning the just concluded primaries where they emerged as Bauchi PDP Governorship candidate and Bauchi South Senatorial district PDP candidate and pray for their victory in the forthcoming general election.
