Since 2012, Kaduna state has not had any case of polio, the World Health Organization (WHO) has therefore said that the state will soon be declared as polio free, the Director General, Media and Publicity to the governor, Ahmed Maiyaki has disclosed.
Maiyaki said because of the political will demonstrated by the governor, presently, women and children are being treated free in identified public hospitals.
Speaking in an interactive session with members of the Correspondent chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State, the director general said the government has so far treated 232 women that were affected with Vesico- Vaginal Fistula (VVF), and also empowered them with skills for them to be self reliant.
He said the effort of the government in the health sector has drastically reduced mortality rate in the state, adding that the government is doing all it can to sustain its efforts in addressing health issues in the state.
