President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday reassured Nigerians that his government would tackle the Boko Haram menace headlong even as he disclosed that the military has deployed series of equipment to counter the insurgents.
Speaking at the 65th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, Jonathan pointed out that security challenges in the country were less pronounced in PDP-controlled states, pointing out that the challenges of Boko Haram and other security issues in the country will soon be history.
Jonathan maintained that notwithstanding the defection if the five governors, the PDP still remains the party to beat in the country.
Commenting earlier, the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, lamented that never in the history of Nigeria that the country has been so challenged by saboteurs, adding that in the midst of “this our party is undaunted and providing the dividend of democracy.”
Meanwhile, the party in a resolution after its NEC meeting yesterday said it would convene its National Convention immediately after the Ramadan fast.
