The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, has directed the police field commanders to deploy sensitive security equipment within the Federal Capital Territory and its sub-urban areas, to ensure maximum security before, during and after the World Economic Forum on Africa, slated May 7-9, in Abuja.
In a detailed Operational Order released yesterday, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank MBA, said the IGP also directed a massive security cordon around the FCT and its environs for a hitch-free Forum.
The police field commanders were further ordered to step-up tight security measures in all strategic locations and vulnerable points, in addition to further strengthen security at entry and exit points of FCT, airports and highways, as well as City roads, hotels and the conference venue.
While calling for the cooperation of the people towards the success of this important event, the IGP also assured the conference participants, the citizenry, as well as members of the international community of adequate security.
He stressed that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies have already put in place, effective security measures for their safety and comfort.
The IGP further charged the citizens to show understanding and continue to cooperate with the Police and all security agencies in the on-going special security operations.
