We won’t let politicians, others use us again -Abuja youths

Youth in the FCT have vowed never to allow themselves to be used by selfish policians to cause violence, destroy property and kill anyone anymore.
The youth made their position known over the weekend during a peace walk organized by an Abuja-based Non-Governmental Organization, I Stand for Peace in Nigeria, in Bwari, Abuja.
National Coordinator of the NGO, John Shaibu Anyebe, who led the FCT, Bwari Coordinators and other members of the organisation for the peace walk to Esu Bwari and Sarkin Bwari’s palaces in Bwari.
Anyebe stated that youth were the pillars upon which the country is built, warning against destruction of youth in whatever form, for whatever purpose.
Assuring the Esu and Sarkin of their commitment to peaceful coexistence in the FCT, Anyebe said: “As nation builders, we want to sustain the peace in the FCT.
“We do not want violence, between cannot forget the two incidents of 2017 and 2018 when Bwari was brought to a halt because of violence, which unfortunately led to huge loss of property and lives.”
He appealed to all youth in the FCT and Nigeria to always pursue that path of peals in all their dealings and shone acts that would result to violence.
He pointed out that without peace, there would be no development and no future, even as he urged them not to fall prey to the divisive and violent antics of politicians, among others.
Esu Bwari, HRH Ibrahim Yaro JP, while addressing the youths in his palace, said he was appreciative that youth have finally discovering that they were being used to forment violence in the FCT, especially Bwari.
The royal father tasked them not to forget that they would be the ones leading global the country in the future, advising them to stay away from drug abuse and cultism.
Represented by the Dami Dami of Bwari, Chief Timothy Dakoyi, the Esu said: “I thank God you now understand that you are the fathers and leaders of tomorrow and have decided to amend your tomorrow.
“Stay away from drug abuse and cultism, it will not help you” and quèried: “When you become fathers
and are behaving like this, how are you going to train and take care of your chikdren tomorrow?”
He therefore prayed for them charged to spread the message of peace across the Territory and the nation so that there would be the needed peace in the country for sustainable development.
Similarly, Coordinators of I Stand with Peace in Nigeria in FCT and Bwari Area Council, Mr. Zaka Nehemia and David Blessing Abire who also spoke, said youth were determined to ensure peace reigned in the FCT and Bwari, calling on youths to work together as one.
Also speaking, Director, FCT Youth Development Department, Hajarat Titilayo Alayende pledged continued support of her organization to every effort targeted at ensuring peacr in the FCT and called on the residents, especially the youth to crave for peace instead of revolution.
Alayende who was represented by a Deputy Director, Youth Development, Kumsal Wuyep also advised the youths to always work together and speak with one voice over national and issues involving them.
On his part, Sarkin Bwari, HRH Awwal Musa Ijakoro also expressed gratitude to the youths for standing for peace in Bwari and Nigeria. The royal father, who was represented by Madakin Bwari, Alhaji Mohammed Danbaba Angola corroborated the Esu, stating that the elders could not have any meanigful life without the youths who would also one day become elders.
Ijakoro advised youth to take advantage of their upcoming peace summit to sensitize themselves on the imperative of peace, even as he reminded them not to allow a repeat of experiences of the past year’s, when the city was unguided in crisis prior to festive periods.
