We have no crisis in North-East zone – SDP
From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, said there is no crisis in its North-East zone of the party as speculated in some quarters.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Alfa Mohammed disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Minna, saying, “The leadership and the led of the party were working as a team to build a strong and virile party in all the states in the zone, and in all the zones in general.
“Following the recent mass endorsement of the SDP by the coalition of advocates of New Political Order in Nigeria, there has been massive influx of persons, especially politicians into the party either individually or in groups, “This situation has continued to generate series of stakeholders meetings and mass endorsement of the SDP across the states. In the region “so we must find a way to accommodate everyone” he stated.
Alfa noted that despite the upsurge in the number of people joining the party across the country
“The SDP remains very united and stable, with its leaders busy managing the nationwide pressure created by the recent emergence of the party as the most popular political force in Nigeria today.
He explained that the national leadership was also busy preparing to receive thousands of people that had defected to the SDP in the South East and recently in Ekiti state.
He hinted that the SDP would contest the July 2018 governorship election in Ekiti and the September polls in Osun state.
“I can assure you that with what we have on the ground now we set for victory in the two states” Alfa Mohammed declared.
