The traditional ruler of Ezi Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state on Thursday said that the community within two weeks had had twelve cases of kidnap and two children missing, adding that many years before now,his community had been on red alert over insecurity, especially Kidnappings and armed robbery
The traditional ruler, HRM, Agbogidi Obi Mohanyem 1, who spoke to our Correspondent in the area, however urged vigilante group and police to use the opportunity offered to them by the state government and the local government council with the donation of communication gadgets to intensify surveillance and bring perpetrators of the crimes to arrest and Justice.
While commending the Ezi security gadgets sponsors for the efforts to fight crime in the community, the Monarch said” we have really suffered before now what was real insecurity, Kidnappings, armed robbery, stealing, among others, but with the state government’s proactive measures, we are sure of winning the war against insecurity in the community”
Obi Mohanyem said that apart from missing Children, the community had had the fulani hersdmen menace to contend with as most of the housewives were allegedly raped in their farmlands, adding”we have not been sleeping well because of the fulani hersdmen, the situation has been terrible and they have been raping our women in their farmlands almost everyday, but with the state government’s proactivenes, we are sure we over come all the problems associated with insecurity soon”
But the Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Council, Mr Chucks Oseme who spoke to Journalists in the area said that efforts of the people in line with the law to secure their Communities against illegal activities of armed fulani hersdmen would soon pay off adding that the Aniocha North Council would partner with the state government to ensure huge success in fighting crimes in areas
While commending the people of Ezi Community for their efforts and determination to get rid of Criminal activities prevalent in the area, Oseme stressed that security is the responsibility of the government and Ezi people adding that over time the community had become the Center for kidnapping
He assured the people that his administration was devouted to providing security to the people and Commended the Delta state police Commissioner, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah for posting a proactive Divisional Police Officer, ( DPO) SP Chidi Usulor to Onicha Olona who within his short time of arrival has shown competence and readiness to combat crime in his Jurisdiction
Oseme however disclosed that Aniocha North Joint Taskforce would soon embark on enforcement to evacuate the armed fulani hersdmen in the area who threaten the lives of the poor farmers from the dense bush, stressing the need to deal with the attacks of the rampaging hersdmen in the local government areas.
