Coach Kadiri Ikhana of Enyimba has said that he is looking forward to winning the league title and the Federation Cup in the ongoing football season. The former African Coach of the year in a chat with Peoples Daily Sports said his aim is to win the double this season.
Ikhana who is enjoying his second stint with last year Federation Cup winners said he is back in Enyimba to deliver trophies to the fans and supporters of Peoples Elephant whose support he has enjoyed since he rejoined the club.
“It will be nice again to repeat our achievement of 2003 and even surpass it. Enyimba is a club that is synonymous with trophy. Our target God willing is to win both the league shield and the Federation Cup at the end of the season.
Thank God we are already in the final of the Federation Cup and at the same time we are not doing badly in the league going by our current position on the log. We are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that we win the double again this year,” he said. Asked why he rejoined the team again after a decade, Ikhana said it is only the management that can provide answer to the question as his mandate is to deliver trophy to the club.
It would be recall that Ikhana left Giwa FC of Jos to team up with the Aba-based side this season. Enyimba currently occupies the third position in the league behind leaders Kano Pillars and Nasarawa United with 40 points from 25 games.
